Indication Active immunization of the target animals against rabies. Composition per 1 ml: Virus rabiei inactivatum 2 - 4 IU Target species Dogs, cats, furs, cattle, horses, sheep, goats, pigs. Pharmacological properties After application into the body of the vaccinated animal, the antigen present in the vaccine is recognized as an extraneous substance and a number of defensive mechanisms is activated in the organism (macrophagus, opsonins, interleukins, B-lymphocytes etc.), in consequence of which creation of specific antibodies against the antigen determinants, contained in the vaccine, occurs. The said mechanisms are supposed to prevent from consequent development of infection. The animals are vaccinated from 3 months of age. The protective immunity starts 14 days after immunization. The animals that were vaccinated before they reached 3 months of age must be re-vaccinated after they accomplish this age (the minimum interval of 14 days between two vaccinations must be followed). The animals first vaccinated at the age of 3 to 12 months must be re- vaccinated one year after the first application of the vaccine. The re-vaccination performed one year after the first vaccination shall protect the animals from rabies for a minimum period of 2 years. To retain immunity, next re- vaccination is recommended pursuant to the veterinary regulations of the individual countries. For instance, in India, re-vaccination is advised every year. Interaction The vaccine Biocan R may be used separately, simultaneously or in combination with other Biocan vaccines. The vaccine Biocan R may be used as a diluting agent for the other lyophilized Biocan vaccines (for example DHPPi, DP, P). The vaccine Biocan R may also be applied simultaneously with the liquid vaccines Biocan C, Biocan B, Biocan M and Biocan L.
