Hens lay larger eggs if they smell a substance in human urine !

Studies into finding more innovative ways of producing
better eggs have led to an interesting finding. Hens have
shown that they lay larger eggs if they smell a substance
found in human urine, according to studies in Israel and
Britain.

The substance known as, " 2-methoxy-3-isobutyl pyrazine "
has also shown to improve chickens' memory. The eggs
laid were found to be weighing more than 4 grams than the
eggs laid without this stimulation.

It is assumed that the smell of these compound delays
the surge of luteinising hormone, which releases eggs from
the oviduct, so a developing egg might linger there. It
might have more time to collect yolk and albumen.
